HyET Solaris secures €60 million to build flexible solar plant in the Netherlands

Solar foils company HyET Solar has secured €60 million in growth capital from UK investors Aequitas Carbon Ltd and Abbeydale Partners LLP. The investment will help build a new 50-megawatt production facility in the Netherlands. The test production is planned for mid-2026, and full commercial output of flexible perovskite PV modules is expected by the end of 2027.

Aequitas Carbon is a UK-based investment firm focused on energy and materials technologies. Maarten Scholten, Operating Partner at Aequitas Carbon Ltd, comments: “HyET Solaris aligns perfectly with our mission to develop affordable, next-generation solar energy solutions. We believe perovskite PV technology will move the industry beyond rigid panels to flexible, scalable formats”. Abbeydale Partners is a UK-based advisory and investment group specializing in, among others, scaling innovative clean-energy and advanced manufacturing businesses. Gosan Tech and NPC announce strategic partnership focused on perovskite PVs

South Korea’s Gosan Tech has announced a strategic partnership with NPC Incorporated to jointly develop, manufacture, and market equipment for perovskite solar photovoltaic (PV) modules. 

This alliance aims to leverage Gosan Tech’s advanced inkjet printing technology to improve production processes for perovskite solar modules, targeting PV module manufacturers in Japan and the United States, with initial sales contributions expected to begin in the fiscal year ending August 31, 2027. Although the immediate financial impact is minor, the partnership is expected to boost NPC's results and position both companies in the growing perovskite PV module market.

Novel optimization strategy could enable more efficient and stable lead-free all-perovskite tandem solar cells

Developing efficient and stable lead-free perovskite solar cells (PSCs) has become a research goal as environmental concerns arising from the toxicity of lead-based perovskite solar cells persist. However, lead-free alternatives tend to lag behind their lead-based counterparts in terms of performance. In addition, despite the perovskite grain shape and structure plays a significant role in photon absorption, little to no significant dedicated research has been conducted to explore shape-driven photovoltaic properties of PSCs. 

To address these issues, researchers from China's Wenzhou University have utilized COMSOL Multiphysics software to investigate the perovskite grain shape-modulated photovoltaic optimization aiming to systematically enhance the overall performance of lead-free all-perovskite tandem solar cells (APTSCs).

Mellow Energy reaches 24.36% efficiency with 30 × 30 cm perovskite PV module

Accoring to reports, perovskite manufacturer Mellow Energy has announced a 30 × 30 cm perovskite PV module, with a TÜV SÜD-certified conversion efficiency of 24.36%. 

The company stated this represents a new world record for modules of this size. According to the test report, the module’s forward-scan efficiency reached 23.72% and reverse-scan efficiency 24.36%, with an Isc of 0.410 A, Voc of 55.993 V, and FF of 80.26%.

Novel n-type doped 2d perovskite interlayers enable efficient and stable perovskite–silicon tandem solar cells

In perovskite photovoltaic systems, ammonium salts are widely utilized to convert residual PbI₂ and undercoordinated Pb²⁺ species into two-dimensional (2D) perovskite layers, thereby providing surface passivation for the three-dimensional (3D) perovskite absorber. Nevertheless, conventional 2D passivation strategies are hindered by the intrinsic trade-off between passivation efficiency and charge transport, as 2D perovskites typically exhibit suboptimal band alignment and limited electrical conductivity. 

To address this limitation, researchers from China's Zhejiang University and ZJU-Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Center have introduced an interfacial n-type modulation approach within 2D perovskite interlayers.

Machine learning reveals structural dynamics of formamidinium lead iodide

Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Birmingham have used advanced machine learning-driven molecular dynamics simulations to elucidate the low-temperature phase of formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI3).

Their study identifies the detailed crystal structure and octahedral tilt pattern characteristic of this phase and reveals that the rotational dynamics of formamidinium (FA) cations become arrested in a metastable configuration upon cooling. This cation freezing explains the persistent experimental challenges in accessing the thermodynamic ground state of FAPbI3.

BOE Group updates on perovskite solar cell progress and plans

Earlier this month, BOE Technology Group conducted a hybrid online and on-site earnings briefing, featuring senior executives who reviewed the company’s first-half operating results, outlined future development strategies, and addressed key investor concerns.

Among various topics discussed in the briefing, one area of interest was the latest developments in the company’s perovskite technology and the timeline for establishing a mass production line. BOE gave the following answer: "As you can see from our current progress, the efficiency stability of our 1.2-meter and 2.4-meter pilot lines has been certified by the ITC. A year ago, I was concerned about the instability and lifetime of perovskites. Now, we can confidently say that the lifetime stability of perovskite photovoltaics is no longer a major issue and is essentially guaranteed. The remaining breakthroughs lie in our continued efforts to improve efficiency. We are confident that we will challenge the world record with our pilot line this year. Of course, our goal is not to set a record. We are increasingly confident that everything is on track. We will soon update investors and may clarify more information in the future. We are confident that we are at the forefront of this industry".

Renshine’s 30 × 40 cm perovskite module achieves 20.84% efficiency

China-based perovskite PV developer Renshine Solar has announced that its 30 × 40 cm flexible perovskite module, developed in-house, achieved a stabilized efficiency (MPPT) of 20.84%, certified by the National PV Industry Measurement and Testing Center. 

The company claims this to be the highest stabilized efficiency record worldwide for perovskite modules of this size. It also reported that its mass-produced 1.2 × 0.6 m2 commercial flexible modules have surpassed 18% efficiency.

Efficient deep-blue LEDs based on perovskite nanoplatelets meet Rec.2020 color standards

Researchers from Guangxi University, Hubei University of Automotive Technology and Shandong Normal University have developed highly efficient deep-blue light-emitting diodes (LEDs) using colloidal CsPbBr3 perovskite nanoplatelets (NPLs), which exhibit narrow emission linewidths and thickness-tunable photoluminescence ideal for next-generation displays.

A key innovation is an acid-assisted ligand passivation strategy that improves surface defect passivation by replacing weak long-chain ligands with stable Pb-S-P coordination bonds, enhancing photoluminescence quantum yield to 96% and producing sharp 461 nm deep-blue emission that meets the stringent Rec.2020 color standard.

GCL Tech secures $700 million from Infini Capital

Earlier this month, Infini Capital made an investment in GCL through a strategic financing agreement. This investment involved a private placement raising of approximately USD 700 million (about HK$5.446 billion). 

The funds will be primarily used to build a supply-side reform reserve, strengthen the company’s “second growth curve,” and optimize its capital structure.
