China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), together with four other key government bodies, has announced its 2026 list of typical smart photovoltaic (PV) projects, selecting 73 initiatives nationwide. Among them, two perovskite-based projects were recognized, signaling continued momentum toward large-scale commercialization of next-generation PV technologies.
The selected perovskite projects include GCL Optoelectronics’ “Full-size High Conversion Rate Perovskite Photovoltaic Modules” and Quzhou FiberNano New Energy Technology’s “Manufacturing and Application of Perovskite and Tandem Photovoltaic Systems.”
GCL Optoelectronics’ project, located in Kunshan High-tech Zone with a total investment of 5 billion yuan, represents a step toward gigawatt-scale production of large-area perovskite modules. The company has established a 1.15 × 2.4 meter full-size module production line and is advancing both single-junction and perovskite-silicon tandem technologies. Its tandem modules reportedly achieve steady-state mass-production efficiencies above 26.8%, with large-area samples exceeding 30.23%. The project has also passed TÜV aging certification, addressing long-standing concerns around perovskite stability.
In parallel, FiberNano’s 5.46 billion yuan project in Quzhou aims to build a fully integrated perovskite manufacturing ecosystem with a planned capacity of 5 GW. The company has deployed both a 100 MW single-junction perovskite line and a 100 MW four-terminal tandem production line. Leveraging proprietary technologies such as three-dimensional laminar flow crystallization and cryo-laser defect repair, FiberNano reports module efficiencies of 23.9% for single-junction devices and over 26.49% for tandem structures.
Both projects emphasize full supply chain integration, from materials and device fabrication to system-level deployment, and target a wide range of applications including utility-scale PV, building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), and operation in challenging environments such as deserts and cold climates.
