Hanwha Solutions’ Qcells division has reportedly completed the solar cell production line at its Cartersville factory in Georgia, paving the way for mass production to begin as early as this July.

This milestone finalizes the company’s U.S. “Solar Hub”, a vertically integrated manufacturing base that covers the full value chain from ingots and wafers through cells to finished modules, all produced domestically. Once ramped, the hub is expected to support several gigawatts of annual ingot, wafer and cell output, alongside 8.6 GW of module capacity.
The completion of the Solar Hub aligns with Hanwha’s previously announced 907.7 billion won investment package for perovskite‑silicon tandem and related TOPCon manufacturing. The company is building a perovskite‑silicon tandem pilot line at Jincheon, Korea, and has earmarked additional capex for gigawatt‑scale tandem and TOPCon deployment across Jincheon and Cartersville.
Qcells’ U.S. integrated base is therefore likely to play a key role in any future tandem ramp, especially as the company seeks to maximize U.S. Inflation Reduction Act manufacturing credits and offer “fully domestic” products to project developers. In parallel, Qcells is advancing its tandem technology through a NASA‑funded lunar surface demonstration, in which its perovskite‑silicon tandem cells will be exposed to the extreme conditions of the Moon. Data from that project is expected to feed into the company’s roadmap toward commercial terrestrial tandem modules later this decade.
