i-Components

i-Components (아이컴포넌트) is a South Korean, KOSDAQ-listed manufacturer of functional optical and barrier films, headquartered in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province. The company has been listed on KOSDAQ since December 2008 and commercialized its own barrier-film materials in 2014.

The company's core technology is gas barrier film - coatings that block the penetration of moisture and oxygen - originally developed for the display industry, where it protects materials like OLEDs and quantum dots from degradation. By 2021, i-Components had built a reputation in the global market for barrier films for electronic shelf labels (ESL), supplying panel maker BOE through its acquisition of SES Imagotag. Its product lineup includes polycarbonate film/sheet, functional coated film/sheet, light guide film/sheet, multilayer film/sheet, and its i-Barrier TBF+++ and i-Barrier PVB+++ film series.

i-Components has been extending this barrier-film experience into flexible and perovskite solar cells, which face similar moisture/oxygen degradation risks to displays. It developed barrier film for organic solar cells and registered as a supplier to China's Hanergy in late 2020, then signed a supply contract worth roughly 8 billion won with a leading European flexible solar cell maker in January 2024. In August 2026, the company said it had supplied perovskite solar cell barrier film samples to about 30 companies in Japan and China, and in June 2026 it announced a 5.5 billion won investment in barrier film production equipment.
