Researchers from China's Yuncheng University, Beihang University, CRCC Technology Research Institute and the Fourth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital have developed a novel electrochemical biosensor NF/KbE-CS/AuNPs/PVK/GCE for organophosphorus pesticide detection, using white kidney beans and chitosan (KbE-CS) as the detection enzyme source.
The gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and perovskite (PVK) composite were prepared for the synergistic electrocatalytic amplification. By introducing PVK, the electron transfer capability of the modified electrode was improved owing to the increased specific surface area and the enhanced conductivity.
The oxidation reaction of 1-Naphthol based on this bioelectrocatalytic interface was a single-electron transfer process, in which the equal electrons and protons were controlled through adsorption.
With these optimized conditions, the PVK/AuNPs composite enabled a biosensor with ultra-sensitive determination of fenitrothion in the concentration range of 0.1–1000 μg/L. The linear equation was Y = 11.729 lg c + 27.639 with the correlation coefficient R2 = 0.978, and the detection limit (LOD) was 0.034 μg/L (S/N = 3).
This electrochemical biosensor with superior repeatability, high stability, and excellent anti-interference can be used for trace determination of fenitrothion in agricultural products.
