Perovskite solar panels developers - Page 2

Energy Materials Corp. (EMC)

EMC logo imageEnergy Materials Corp. (EMC) is focused on the development of high-speed, roll-to-roll printing of purebred perovskite solar panels.

EMC's manufacturer business model is based on leveraging joint development partners: Kodak's manufacturing facilities, and Corning's materials innovation, and combining them into a unique manufacturing model. This model inverts the restrictive, go slow paradigm with a pursuit of speed: in manufacturing scale-up, production throughput, capacity expansion and early revenue.

With over 100 years of Kodak printing experience and data informing development, EMC's model is mapped for rapid, broad market segment participation, market disrupting product pricing, and gross margins that are more than twice that of current module manufacturers.

Evolar

Evolar logo imageEvolar has been spun out of Uppsala University's thin film solar cell research cluster. Evolar aims to produce perovskite solar cells at a high volume.

Evolar defines itself as an expert on evaporation of thin film materials with solid industry experience and world leading technology achievements. It plans to use its know-how to design reliable solar cells and to fast scale new manufacturing processes.

It has a high throughput R&D line running 24/7 with a large number of experiments under production like conditions. Using its unique method to mechanically stack perovskite and conventional solar cells, Evolar achieved high efficiency as well as ease of integration.

In November 2020, Evolar announced that it is partnering with Magnora ASA, a leading investment company in renewable energy. The raised capital will be spent to scale the processes in Evolar's high throughput R&D tools and prototype line in Uppsala, Sweden and thereby bringing its technology to the market in the near future.

Evolisun Energy

Evolisun Energy, co-based in China and Germany, focuses on the evolution of lithium and solar Energy. Evolisun has been working on perovskite solar cells since 2010.

Evolisun is also dedicated to worldwide supply of battery energy storage systems embedded with vertical integrated and purpose-built solutions into the demands of residential, commercial and industrial and microgrid application.

First Solar

Founded in 1999, First Solar is an American solar technology company and global provider of responsibly produced, eco-efficient solar modules advancing the fight against climate change.

The company is a U.S-headquartered company and does not manufacture in China. First Solar’s advanced thin film photovoltaic (PV) modules represent the next generation of solar technologies, providing a competitive, high-performance, lower-carbon alternative to conventional crystalline silicon (c-Si) PV panels.

In May 2023, First Solar acquired Evolar.

Golden Solar New Energy Technology Holdings

Golden Solar New Energy Technology Holdings Limited (Originally Baofeng Modern International Holdings Company Limited) is an investment holdings company listed on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (Stock Code: 1121).

Earlier on, Golden Solar’s subsidiary, Quanzhou Baofeng Shoes Co., Ltd. engaged in the manufacture and sale of slippers, flip-flops, sandals and casual footwear for Original Equipment Manufacturer customers and design and manufacture of slippers under its own brands of Boree and Baofeng in China.

The Company set out to transform its business model. In addition to completing the acquisition of technological know-how in graphene materials technology, Golden Solar has been selectively hiring scientists and researchers. The company had since then successfully commercialized the graphene materials technology and its application in footwears and air purification devices, and thus re-positioned itself from a traditional manufacturing company to a materials science company.

Greatcell Energy

Greatcell Energy logoGreatcell Energy was formed following Greatecell Solar's liquidation. Greatecell Energy acquired all of Greatcell Solar's IP, equipment - and Italian subsidiary.

The company's main focus is on the low-light, indoor IoT market. Using a roll-to-roll low-cost method, the company developed a high-efficiency perovskite indoor solar panel and is now upscaling its facilities for production.

Greatcell energy also has a long term full-sun research program with several universities and large innovative corporations.

GreatCell Solar

Greatcell logo imageGreatCell Solar, formerly known as Dyesol, was an Australia-headquartered renewable energy supplier and leader in Perovskite Solar Cell (PSC) technology. In 2018 the company went bankrupt.

Following the company's liquidation in 2018, Greatcell Solar Materials was spun-off to a separate entity. In addition, GreatCell's Solar equipment, IP and subsidiary in Italy were acquired by a newly formed company called Greatcell Energy.

GreatCell manufactured and supplied PSC materials and was dedicated to the successful commercialization of PSC photovoltaics. It is mainly focused on:

Halldata Solar

Halldata Solar company logo imageU.S-based Halldata Solar is a printing company that prints a wide range of specialized labels and tags for a variety of specialized applications. It aims to use its 30 years of printing knowledge to manufacture flexible perovskite solar films.

The company has many printing technologies in its 22,000sf facility in eastern Washington State that give it the experience to create perovskite solar cells:

  •  Roll-to-Roll Printing
  •  Flatbed Screenprinting
  •  Flexography
  •  Plate Making
  •  Convection and UV Curing
  •  Conductive Inks
  •  Slot Die & Rod Coating

Halldata wishes to turn university research into working solar cells, and is working to establish a thin film perovskite solar cell manufacturing facility near Hanford, USA.
