Hiking PV

Hiking PV, AKA Shenzhen Hiking PV, is a company dedicated to the R&D, manufacturing, and application of advanced energy technology. 

It develops perovskite-silicon tandem solar technology that aims to "facilitate the further development of the trillion-dollar photovoltaic industry. This technology can greatly improve the power conversion efficiency of solar cells with low-cost, thus enhancing the economics of photovoltaic technology", according to the Company's website.

In February 2024, Shenzhen Hiking PV unveiled plans to set up a joint venture with a state-run company to build gigawatt-level perovskite/polysilicon tandem cell and panel production capacity in Guangdong province



France-based Holosolis is a solar developer that was founded by three European entities: EIT Innoenergy, a clean-tech investor based in the Netherlands and financed by the EU; IDEC Group, a real estate developer in France; and TSE, a prominent solar energy producer in France and a leader in agrivoltaics. 

Holosolis is committed to manufacturing energy efficient modules using the latest photovoltaic technologies, with the lowest carbon footprint and highest social standards. It plans to build a state-of-the-art module gigafactory in Sarreguemines, Moselle, France, that will start production in 2025. It aims to produce 10 million PV panels per year.

Holosolis will accelerate innovation across the entire photovoltaic value chain, from raw materials to recycling, with products designed for the following markets:

* Residential rooftops
* Industrial and commercial rooftops
* Agrivoltaics
* Utility scale

In 2023, German silver metallization paste maker Heraeus acquired an unspecified stake in HoloSolis. Also, Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy (ISE) said that it will support HoloSolis in setting up its planned manufacturing facility.

Huasun Energy

Anhui Huasun Energy Co., Ltd ( "Huasun Energy"), founded in July 2020, is a technological innovation enterprise specialized in the R&D and large-scale manufacturing of ultra-high efficiency N-type silicon heterojunction (HJT) solar wafer, cell and module. In 2023, it was implied that the Company is also working on heterojunction-perovskite tandem solar cells.

As one of the industrial pioneers of heterojunction technology in China, Huasun has delivered over 2GW of HJT products to over 30 countries around the globe. Huasun owns 12GW capacity of high-efficiency HJT products, ranking as the largest HJT manufacturer in the world. The company plans to achieve 40GW HJT capacity by the end of 2025.

In November 2023, Huasun Energy announced a fund raise and plans to develop heterojunction-perovskite tandem solar cells.

Hunt Perovskite Technologies (CubicPV)

Hunt Perovskite Technologies logo imageIn 2021, Hunt Perovskite Technologies merged with 1366 Technologies to create CubicPV.

Founded in 2013, Hunt Perovskite Technologies (HPT) specializes in highly-stable and efficient metal halide perovskite in single-junction solar panels for the utility-scale market.

HPT claims that after achieving highly-efficient (>18%) metal halide perovskite PV devices in spring 2014, it resolved to stabilize the perovskite material through better chemistry. Its early tests showed that even though the perovskite devices were highly-efficient and very reproducible, all the materials that made for an efficient device, also caused the PV device to fail.


HPT's team of scientists and engineers has designed its own stable and efficient perovskite solar cell from the ground-up. HPT is also exploring other applications incorporating its highly-stable and efficient perovskite semiconductor.

Jiangsu Akcome Science and Technology

Jiangsu Akcome Science and Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in 2006. It was listed on Shenzhen Stock Exchange (stock code 002610) in 2011 and is a Chinese new energy enterprise, headquartered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.

LONGi Green Energy Technology (LONGi)

Founded in 2000, LONGi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. (LONGi) is a solar technology that develops solutions for large-scale power plants and for different industries and households with its innovation-focused development. Eventually, it also plans to supply "Green Power + Green Hydrogen" solutions for global zero-carbon development.

Since 2015, LONGi has located its operations in Yunnan, China, and Kuching, Malaysia, to utilize the abundant local hydropower resources to provide clean energy for its facilities. LONGi plans to integrate solar power plants with pumped storage in areas that feature significant elevation differences and abundant sunlight, creating an industrial model for using solar. 

On its website, LONGi states that "the LONGi R&D team has achieved successive breakthroughs in key technologies. These include perovskite thin-film crystal growth on textured silicon substrates, high-efficiency bulk passivation and optical management, and these advancements have led to rapid improvements in the efficiency of silicon-based stacked cells".

Mellow Energy / Vein Energy

Mellow Energy, a China-based perovskite solar module manufacturer, was founded in August 2022. It is also sometimes called Vein Energy. The Company was incubated by the New Energy Technology Research Institute of Jinan University and is led by Professor Mai Yaohua, the dean of the institute.

In November 2022, the Company completed an angel round of financing and began constructing a pilot production line in Foshan High-tech Zone. The production line is used to research and develop key technologies to commercialize large-area perovskite solar cells and modules, as well as to manufacture indoor light energy collection and flexible mobile energy products. By February 2023, the perovskite 100 MW module (30cm x 30cm) pilot line was operational. By December 2023, it is said to be producing PCE = 22.9% modules. This is claimed to be certified by a Chinese 3rd party lab.

Merida Aerospace

Merida Aerospace offers a complete range of space services and products, encompassing space launch vehicles, satellite manufacturing, satellite data distribution, and a whole host of space support vehicles and operations, such as lunar and planetary rovers, as well as control center operations. In 2024, Merida launched a project to develop perovskite solar cells for use in space.

By centralizing all these services within Merida Aerospace’s manufacturing capabilities, the company aims to reduce costs, shorten production time, and enhance build quality through meticulous control over every aspect of a space project. Merida Aerospace offers clients satellite design, data distribution, and launching capabilities for space crafts in one facility. 

Merida Aerospace has been working since its inception in 2019 on its innovative concept known as the "Space of Things" or SoT. This concept, introduced by Merida Aerospace, aims to bridge the existing gaps in the space sector by offering comprehensive services and solutions that cater to all needs related to the space industry under one roof.

Oxford Photovoltaics

Oxford Photovoltaics Limited (Oxford PV) was founded in 2010 as a spin-out from the University of Oxford to commercialize a new technology for thin-film solar cells. It was amongst the first in the world to recognize the potential of perovskites to act as a low-cost, highly efficient solar cell absorber material to convert sunlight into electricity.

Oxford PV is developing and commercializing thin-film perovskite solar cells, which can be printed directly onto silicon solar cells, CIGS solar cells or glass. Pioneering work developing perovskite thin-film solar cells has delivered a route to boosting the efficiency of current commercial cells; using a high efficiency coating in a multi-junction or “tandem” cell architecture. In addition, printing perovskites directly onto glass has led to a semi-transparent coating ideal for BIPV applications and, once integrated into the glazing units of a building, the technology is capable of providing a significant percentage of the building’s electrical energy requirements directly from sunlight.

By employing well known and well understood printing processes, focused on inexpensive and abundant raw materials, Oxford PV has developed a highly cost effective technology.


P3C logo imageP3C is an India-based startup that develops new generation photovoltaics and associated components. P3C started at IIT BHU and has also support from IIT Delhi.

Its mission in to take perovskite solar cells from lab to market.

P3C is developing its own manufacturing facility and PSC technology. P3C is also committed to developing a wide range of nanotechnology-based products. It is working towards the design & development of both the machinery and technology required for independent production.

On 1st June 2023, P3C reportedly finalized an agreement with investors for an investment, that is said by the company to be "pivotal in accelerating its research and development initiatives, expanding operations, and fostering strategic partnerships".


Panasonic logo imagePanasonic Corporation is a Japan-based worldwide leader in the development of diverse electronics technologies and solutions in the consumer electronics, housing, automotive, enterprise solutions and more.

Panasonic is focusing on the development of perovskite solar cells and takes part in various research activities like the Solliance program (as part of a research program concerning the development of roll-to-roll manufacturing processes aimed at large scale production of flexible perovskite solar cells where it will be one of the industrial partners), research work with EPFL, and more.


In March 2018, Panasonic and Sekisui Chemical announced the development of perovskite-based solar cells that can be attached to walls and curved surfaces.


A team of scientists (Anand Verma (co-founder, CEO), Dr. David Martineau (CTO), Dr. Toby Meyer (co-founder, CEO Solaronix), and Andreas Meyer (CTO Lumartix)) have developed a digital printing technology to fabricate efficient and stable perovskite solar cells with custom design capability.

The fabrication techniques they developed are said to be highly efficient and flexible, which could reduce the production cost considerably, even for customized items.


With this breakthrough, the team hoped to cater to the diverse needs of Internet of Things, electronic goods, sensors, and ultimately designer solar tiles industries. They are already working with a couple of industrial clients where customized solar cells have been successfully tested.

These collaborations are planned to generate first revenues for the startup, and will establish the company among the first to commercialize perovskite solar cell technology in real-world electronic devices (lab to product).

In January 2021, Perovskia won funds from Venture Kick, which will be used to acquire research projects with prototyping for clients, promotions and IP. This will also help in getting new funds from agencies like the EU, and further develop the technology for the current customers.

Power Roll

Power Roll logo imageUK-based Power Roll was established to develop and commercialize its innovative proprietary energy storage and energy generation technologies. PRL's mission is to produce ultra-thin flexible solar photo-voltaic films in continuous rolls using rapid low-cost process.

In 2011 Dr. John Topping, the Company's Chief Scientific Officer, developed the initial concept behind the Power Roll's proprietary grooved based technologies and undertook initial proof of concept studies. In December 2012, John together with Saul Joicey co-founded and established Big Solar Limited (now Power Roll Limited) with some early stage seed capital.


Since then, PRL continued to evolve and now is solely focused on perovskites - although its architecture allows for multiple absorber materials to be used.

PRL reports that it has validated its technology using perovskites with the aid of The University of Sheffield and is currently working with NREL and SPECIFIC to promote scale-up.

PRL has also worked with Solliance in the past who did a technology validation with its architecture.

QD Solar

The team combines perovskites with other solar materials in a tandem configuration to take solar beyond efficiencies achievable using standard silicon technology.

As part of Canada’s effort towards a zero-carbon, zero-waste economy, QD Solar was awarded CAD$5.3 Million in non-dilutive funding by SDTC, Canada’s largest federal cleantech fund

Quanwei Solar

Quanwei Solar, a subsidiary of the listed company Quanwei Technology, is a provider of solar modules, energy storage, and new energy solutions. It is focused on the residential, commercial, industrial and utility markets. 

It is also simultaneously developing perovskite-related technology. The Company has established a technology development and management platform, focusing on cutting-edge solar technologies such as HJT and perovskite. The company has brought together more than 50 top R&D talents in the industry, established reliability and testing analysis laboratories, as well as five R&D centers for new materials, new equipment, new products, HJT, and perovskite. Using various effective technological optimization paths, QW SOLAR continues to improve the conversion efficiency of its cells and modules.

Quanwei has been developing silver paste, ultra-thin silicon wafers, OBB, and other technologies based on HJT cells to further reduce costs. At the same time, It is also conducting industrialization-oriented R&D and developing perovskite/HJT shingled cell technology. In the future, it will engage in extensive cooperation and strategic planning around this technology. 



Rayleigh Solar Tech

Rayleigh has focused heavily on manufacturability. They have developed a manufacturing method that uses roll-to-roll slot-die coating, which makes their product highly scalable. Rayleigh is working to develop collaborations across a variety of industries where their solar cells could make an impact.


The Company has a pilot manufacturing facility with a roll-to-roll slot-die coater in Dartmouth, NS.

Red Solar Flower

Red Solar Flower (RSF) is an Israel-based company based on technology and a patent developed in the perovskite solar lab at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The company aims for the agrovoltaics sector, developing a semi-transparent, perovskite-based solar panel that provides a synergetic and profitable dual-use solution.

Through a printing-like technique, RSF solar panels are made by applying sub-micron layers on a substrate. RSF's patented application harnesses the unique properties of perovskite composition to create semi-transparent solar panels that transfer the light essential for photosynthesis. Unlike state-of-the-art PV panels, RSF synergetic solution ensures crops get vital sunlight while the solar panels convert sunlight into electricity.

RSF’s patented perovskite-based solar panel transfers only the wavelengths required for photosynthesis while utilizing the rest of the spectrum for power generation, thereby enabling 100% coverage of the growing area while maintaining the light conditions required for plant growth.

RenShine Solar

RenShine Solar is a Chinese developer of perovskite solar cells.

The Company focuses on the development and production of perovskite solar cells, providing high efficiency, low cost and excellent performance perovskite solar cells to the industries like electric vehicles, BIPV and consumer electronics.

RenShine says on its website that it has "independent intellectual property rights and patents covering the core technologies of perovskite solar cell projects, including raw material preparation, key equipment design, key processes and other important aspects. The company's unique perovskite stacked cell technology can break through the efficiency bottleneck of single-junction cells and is fully compatible with the perovskite single-junction process, which is far more technically difficult. Higher than perovskite single junction technology".

In October 2022, Renshine Solar (Suzhou) announced achieving steady-state efficiency of 24.50% for all-perovskite tandem cell module, which it called 'a world record'.

Saule Technologies

Saule Technologies is a Polish start-up that designed a low-temperature method for manufacturing flexible photovoltaic perovskite cells. The company is working on the development of a flexible and semi-transparent cell based on PET foil.

Saule's aim is to combine perovskite solar cells with other currently available products.
